There are many key aspects of current legislation&codes of practice that are relevant to my role but the main ones I would like to focus on are; Health and Safety at Work etc Act (1974) is the primary piece of legislation covering occupational health and safety in Great Britain. The Health and Safety Executive is responsible for enforcing the Act. The Equality Act (2010) legally protects people from discrimination In the workplace end In wider society. It sets out the different ways In which It’s unlawful to treat someone.
The Data Protection Act (2003) controls how your personal Information Is used by organisations, businesses or the government. The code of Professional Practice (2008) was developed by the protession tor the protession. There are 7 key principles that all teachers should adhere to, they are; Professional integrity, Respect, Reasonable Care, Criminal Offence Disclosure, Responsibility during institute investigations, Responsibility of the institute.
Management of Health and Safety at Work regulations (1999) is an essential part of any business whether it Is a large or small concern. The dim of these regulations is to prevent unsafe practices and minimise risk. The Manual Handling Operetlons Regulations (1992) supplement the general duties placed upon employers and others by the Health and safety at work etc Act 1974, they also supplement the broad requirements of the Management ot Health and Satety at Work Regulations 1999.
